An alumnus of Concordia University and Rice University, Joel Bartsch guides all museum operations at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) as CEO and president. Throughout his career, Joel A. Bartsch served as director and curator of earth science at several museums.
Museums with a diverse collection of artifacts provide the setting for comprehending art, culture, and history, and so, contribute to education. Museums should be regarded as places to engage with the objects on exhibit, rather than just being places to watch. Museums are structures rich in historical and cultural objects that allow communities to showcase their cultures, pasts and ways of life. By allowing kids to experiment and experience, the museum atmosphere serves as an ideal environment that may contribute to their physical, mental, emotional, social, and educational growth. By exposing materials linked to the culture within social interaction, museums help students recognize that they are part of that society and create the foundation of personality and self-confidence. Museums, especially in multicultural communities, serve a critical role in bringing different people together.
